Individual Psychotherapy services are offered to men, women, and adolescents. Each person is unique and will require an individual path in therapy, because my practice is relationship centered, it will take some time to build trust and a commitment to work together through your journey of healing and self inquiry. I believe it is often necessary to dig deeply in the mud before the jewels can be accessed and this process can look very different for each individual.
I draw from a variety of practices and philosophies to create a plan that will be most effective for the particular client seeking treatment. I always begin with offering an authentic space to facilitate exploration.
The use of dreams can be very effective in this process of growth. The images that arise in dreams embody symbols that lie deep in our unconscious. Bringing more awareness to these symbols and how they manifest in our waking life can create a deeper relationship with our true self and illuminate what might be needed to create more balance and fulfillment.
Relaxation training has become an important part of my work with clients. I have found that calming the nervous system allows for a more open landscape to focus on the possible causes of anxiety, depression and chronic stress. Being present with your breath and the sensations in the body also give the opportunity to view your thoughts and emotions more clearly.
Family and Couples Therapy is at the foundation of my training. Acknowledging that each member in the family plays a vital role in the successes, as well as, the difficulties is key to unlocking the relational patterns within the system. Opening the lines of communication and building compassion for one another will increase the ability to feel closeness between family members and partners. It takes work and commitment to sustain a fulfilling and intimate relationship with your partner and family members. Learning constructive ways to communicate and cultivating listening skills can be essential in deepening intimacy and navigating through a crisis. Therapy offers a safe container to develop new ways of interacting and to deepen the understanding of what love and family truly means to each person.
